Plot/Intro:
Long ago the equine were introduced to the U.S. Some horses escaped and founded a herd in the Midwest before any colonies were about or states were claimed. These escapes bred and made the mustang herd that lives there. The live off of the Midwestern grasses. WHen you travel acrost those lonely, baren plains, you will see the well rounded hoof prints found in the tan sod explaining that the herd had been there a few hours before. If you are really lucky you might catch a small glimpse of the whole herd off in the distance. You will see several mares and a few bachelor stallions. But watching over the herd from afare stands a mighty, ebony lead stallion. He guides and watches over his large herd with presige and wisdom showing upon his features.
Un fortunatly, he likes to get a few of his mares from the neighboring ranch. The only ranch within hundreds of miles. Perhaps almost thousands. The owner has been trying to catch him for years now, but she has tried, and never succeed. He is too cunnign to be caught.
This ranch stands alone on the plains except for a very small town that is about a many miles away from the ranch. It takes a long time to get there, and it will require a about 20 to get there. Thats not including getting back. Anyways, Kahlan is the ranch owner. Yes, she is a beautiful woman. She is lucky to have the ranch for her father had passed it down to her after he died. Everday she has to deal with the stuggles and the hardship of being a woman and own/running the ranch.
Horses only know the basics to riding and cutting. There is no extras such as barrel racing, or english equitation. This is way back when.... remember?
But none the less, now, Eclipse, the mighty stallion who has always bothered Kahlan and her lovely ranch has been caught! OH no! He has left behind his dazzling yet mute love, Daybreak to watch over his herd. Now, a kind stallion by tghe name of Star Gazer has taken over the herd and will aid the quite mare, Eclipse's love to run the herd until Eclipse gets back... that is.. if he ever does. What will become of his dear mute love, or the new stallion Gazer? What about Eclipse himself? What will happen to him? Will he die in teh threshholds of the ranch, or will he escape to take his place back amongst the herd?
